Construction cranes are the most important machines on almost every construction site. These cranes are one of the basic machines that are used in construction. The construction crane has several drives, which are usually electric. They significantly improve work on many construction sites and speed up the building process. Construction cranes can be classified in several ways, including type, parameters (lifting height or load capacity) and construction. Below is a basic breakdown of construction cranes.
Mobile cranes on a wheeled chassis
Mobile cranes on a wheeled chassis, as the name suggests, can move independently on construction sites and on roads. They are used wherever it is necessary to change the position of the crane frequently, for example when working in several places on a construction site. The mobility of such a crane is its obvious advantage, because the costs associated with folding and unfolding the crane are significantly reduced. The time needed to change the crane’s position is significantly shortened. Mobile cranes can come in many sizes, which of course allows you to choose the machine to the individual needs of the construction investor.
Tower cranes – what are they used for?
Tower cranes are by far the more versatile lifting machines, even though they don’t have much mobility around the construction site. Each change in the location of such a device requires the disassembly and re-assembly of the crane in a different place. Unfortunately, it is a time-consuming and quite costly process. This type of crane is one of the largest working machines. Interestingly, it can reach lifting heights of up to about 100 meters. The boom length is 100 m, the maximum load capacity is 240,000 kg. The maximum height of the hook of such a crane is 86 m.
Other types of cranes
There are many categories for the division of construction cranes, and by far the most common is the division into stationary and mobile. The selection of a construction crane to the investor’s individual needs is a very important issue. When choosing a crane, you should take into account not only the conditions on the construction site, but also all parameters of the machines. It is an extremely responsible task, because it is on it that work safety depends. In addition to the above division of construction cranes, the frequently used and much more detailed criteria include: assembly method, place of rotation and type of jib.
